Carrefour Armenia provides 150 students with new school bags and supplies

Carrefour Armenia joins World Vision Armenia’s ‘Back To School’ donation campaign and provides 150 student with new schoolbags and primary school supplies for the children from families living in poverty.

150 schoolbags are already on their way to the rural communities of Aragatsotn, Tavush, and Gegharkunik so that 150 children can start the school year with new bags and items.

Carrefour Armenia also supports the dissemination of the information about the ‘Back To School’ campaign by placing campaign’s information visuals in its supermarkets’ venues.

“Children need our care and protection every day of the year, and we are responsible for their carefree and safe childhood, as well as their educated and bright future. Their lack of stationery and other accessories should not be an obstacle on their way. Statistics

The number of children living in Armenia is 728,294, and 2,5% of the children (18,200 children), live in extreme poverty, as of Armenia poverty snapshot 2008-2015.  https://www.armstat.am/file/article/poverty_2016_eng_2.pdf

The needs of the children living in extreme poverty are numerous – improper living conditions, lack of extra-curricular opportunities, lack of healthy and diversified food, as well as the lack of proper clothing, shoes, books, and school items. Very often because of the lack of school items, shoes and clothes children do not attend school and are left out of education.
